Individualized Lessons of All Types
We tutor students in a variety of subjects. We provide customized learning opportunities depending on individual need. In academic subjects, background records are required. Standardized tests, WISC data from a certified psychologist, school records and references are used to customize instruction. A parent waiver form is used to have access to school records. Although we tutor in any subject and any level from remedial to advanced, we specialize in Math, Social Studies, and Writing at the elementary level for academically talented students.
Math Tutoring
We tutor math up through ninth grade. We specialize in elementary math, enrichment activities and pre-algebra. Our teachers are all certified math teachers through 9th grade. We correlate our instruction with regular classroom activities in order to enrich the student. We also provide remedial tutoring but on a higher level.
Writing and Composition
Want to learn how to write from a published author? Our writing instruction is totally different from the average writing tutor. We specialize in writing for a purpose. Student writing may be published on our web platform as well as through Facebook. Writing is down electronically through Word or Power Point. We integrate writing with art and social studies to make it a more meaningful experience. We also work on topics that are used in homework assignments and other various school activities. Social Studies
Want to learn about social studies through hands-on activities? Students make travel projects where they make travel pamphlets using real-life tourist attractions. Students learn how to book flights, make room reservations, and research tourist attractions. in the past, we have gone on travel trips with families and helped them integrate their vacation with real learning opportunities. Student have actually planned their vacations for their parents. This tutoring is ideal for homeschooled students and for students that have left school for an extended time and need projects in place of missing classroom instruction.
Integrated Elementary Instruction
A variety of integrated topics are presented to elementary students who are taught at home. These students are taught at home due to special needs. Some are medically unable to attend school, others follow a homeschool curriculum. We work with parents and schools to provide appropriate instruction at home to master the state standards at each grade level. Many times, tutoring for several hours can be enough to make up an entire day’s school activities.
Chess Instruction
We have a wide variety individual chess instruction. We give private instruction to players of all ages. We give online tutoring using Zoom, tutoring in senior citizen communities, and overall tutoring in homes. Look in the chess section for details about tutoring for students.
Research Projects
Students picks topics of their choosing and develop a research plan and a method to share their research. This project can be used for homeschoolers, gifted project topics, and can be correlated with school projects, science fairs, and other unique activities.
